I'm sure everyone can agree, the events of the past couple years has left us all mentally tired. I know, as a family, we certainly are. Just this past week, I had so much stuff to get done, however I spent the day busy in my own "fog" and didn't get much of anything accomplished. I couldn't focus and lacked any ambition. Not ideal for this time of year! There are some plants that can help with concentration, attention span and overall performance.
Studies have showed that there is power in plants. I will touch on a couple of these:
BEANS - most beans contain a nutrient called Choline. Choline boosts the healthy metabolism and fosters the creation of neurotransmitters in the brain. Choline also helps prevent the decline of cognitive actions.
Beans are also a great protein source.
KALE - Kale is one the most nutrient dense plants. kale contains the well-known brain supporting fatty acid Omega-3. There is also presence of a pigment known as Lutein, which enhances the learning and memory power.
ROSEMARY - one of the best herbs for memory! Rosemary has many medicinal as well as culinary uses.
THYME - this popular herb has been shown to increase the level of antioxidants and some healthy fats like Omega-3 in your brain
PEPPERMINT - has been shown to have multiple health benefits, the smell of this herb alone can have positive effects in cognition and mood.
If you are finding yourself in a "fog" like I was. I encourage you try a couple of the plants listed above. Also I highly recommend taking a few minutes and go for a walk. There is nothing better for you than being outside in a natural environment. It can be down a backroad (if its not a skating rink like ours), down your street, through the corrals, or in a park. Whatever space brings you joy!
What spaces bring you joy? What do you do to improve concentration, attention span and overall performance?
